Shark Tooth Fossil in Matrix

These teeth are 50 million years old and are set in a sandstone matrix. Sharks are an elasmobranch fish with five to seven fills and pectoral fins. The earliest known shark dates back to 420 million years ago, and since then have diversified into over 500 species. Sharks are most common in depths up to 6,600 feet and are found in both seawater and freshwater.

Each tooth measures approximately 1.5 inches and the sandstone matrix is approximately 3.5 inches across.
