Star Fish Fossil



These fossils are of various species, especially brittle stars. Brittle stars or ophiuroids are echinoderms and are closely related to the starfish. Ophiuroids diverged in the early Ordovician Period, about 500 million years ago. They have 5 slender, whip-like arms that can reach up to 60 cm, and they use these arms to crawl along the sea floor.
